It’s easy to fall in love with a barn door, even when it’s not attached to a barn. In fact, barn doors have started a whole trend in the interior design world when they first made their way into our homes. They bring a dose of rustic simplicity, warmth and charm which can either be strong or subtle, depending on how you decide to plan the whole interior in terms of decor as well as ambiance. Sliding barn doors look lovely in every single room of the house but we’re particularly fond of how they complement a bathroom.

Use a barn door to separate a bedroom from its private en-suite bathroom and you’ll hit two birds with one stone. You can introduce a few other elements with similar rustic casualness such as a reclaimed wood headboard for the bedroom or a live-edge countertop in the bathroom.

There are a bunch of cool ways to use a sliding barn door in a bathroom and one of them is shown right here. The door is used here to separate the toilet area from the rest of the bathroom, creating an enclosed and private zone that feels really cozy. The door also makes the rest of the room look extra welcoming.

Obviously, each room and each decor has its own style and naturally that means there’s an infinite number of ways in which you can introduce a barn door into a bathroom’s design and establish a dialogue between it and the rest of the decor.

One of the possibilities is to paint the door so it matches the walls, the floor or other elements in the bathroom’s overall design. You can also consider modifying the barn door to imprint on it more of your own style.

Barn doors look perfectly at home in rustic bathrooms like this one. The raw and natural beauty of the wood is exposed and allowed to become the center of attention. It’s complemented by stone accents and by an overall breezy and at the same time very cozy feel which defines the entire room.

The effect can be significantly more dramatic when two barn doors are used instead of only one. Check out this cool farmhouse bedroom and the sliding doors that separate it from the bathroom. They’re exactly what these two spaces needed in order to become welcoming and comfortable without too much effort.

You’d think that barn doors are only for rustic or farmhouse interiors but they’re not. Contemporary homes can be very successful at integrating them in their decor. This is one of the best examples in this sense. The minimalism of the style defines everything in the room but that doesn’t interfere with the character and essence of key design elements like the bathroom barn door.

A set of barn doors could seem a bit out of place if there are no matching elements that coordinate with it so it’s important to ensure the cohesiveness of the space by focusing on specific elements like the flooring, the furniture, the light fixtures and others. In this case there’s a smooth dialogue between the bedroom’s wooden floor, the bathroom’s vanities and the barn doors that separate these two spaces.

By painting a barn door you basically give it a new identity. Nevertheless, some of the defining characteristics are preserved. In other words, a painted barn door is still a barn doors at its core but with a customized look which helps better blend in with the rest of the bathroom’s or bedroom’s decor and atmosphere.

The barn door separating this bedroom from the adjacent bathroom was painted grey to match the wall and that’s a look that suits it really well. Even though the wood has been covered up that natural warmth and beauty is still present in the decor in the form of an accent wall.found on lmkinteriors.

Here’s another examples that shows yet another way in which a barn door can be customized without giving up its signature charm. This bathroom has a walk-in closet hidden behind a sliding barn door with a large mirror installed on it.

These are not the typical barn doors which are usually solid and massive but still, they send a similar message. The glass panels gives them a delicate and lightweight appearance and the wooden frames keep the rustic charm alive.

In a different scenario, a barn door (or any other old door) can be a major focal point by simply being itself. The worn finish, the rugged texture and all those little imperfections tell a story and showcase the uniqueness of the door.

A barn door is solid and large enough to hold a mirror. In fact, it’s perfect for that, whether you put it in the bedroom, the bathroom or the closet. While the door brings warmth and rusticity into the decor, the mirror makes the room seem spacious and open.

The barn door doesn’t always have to be a focal point for the room it’s in. Take this house for example. You can barely distinguish the door from the walls and that’s a pretty interesting and effective design strategy. The wood boards are perfectly aligned in this case so when the door is closed is disappears into the wall in a very natural manner.

We really love this bedroom suite. The exposed brick wall can be perceived as rugged, cold and a bit industrial but in this context it’s a feature which contributes to a welcoming, cozy and comfortable decor and the barn door and the wooden floor have plenty to do with that.

If the goal is to create a cottage-inspired look, a barn door is an essential feature. This bedroom suit pairs it with a lovely shade of turquoise which is often associated with rustic interiors and, most importantly with wood-paneled walls which look really fresh when painted white. Obviously, the little things are also important in defining the space and giving it the personalized look that helps it feel like home.
