Somewhere in Nova Lima in Brazil there’s a house that has almost 360 degree views of the gorgeous landscape that surrounds it. Its design is rather unusual through the fact that it doesn’t have a single large volume divided internally but rather a set of individually-sized volumes, each with its own geometry and design. These volumes are organized strategically in order to establish an internal layout which responds to the client’s requirements. This entire project was developed by architect David Guerra.

The views and the landscape play crucial roles in the development of the house’s internal structure and organization. A flagstone pathway seamlessly embedded into the land leads up to the entrance, being framed by vegetation on either side. A beautiful garden offers a stunning panorama for the living spaces and an indoor winter garden brings a piece of nature inside the house, creating a very close connection between the house and its surroundings.

In total, the house offers 700 square meters of living space divided into two levels and several different volumes. The spaces are very fluid throughout and they seamlessly connect with one another. The windows and openings bring in an abundance of natural light along with fresh colors and stunning panoramas. One of the main goals was to ensure a harmonious relationship between the house and the landscape which surrounds it.

The clients wanted a warm and cozy home with spaces for entertaining guests and with private quarters that make the most of the views. The beauty of the structural configuration created by the architect lies in the flexibility and openness of the spaces. Each space can either be treated as a separate area or can be integrated with the others forming a larger floor plan. They have different degrees of privacy based on how they relate to the adjacent volumes.

A beautiful kitchen stands at the center of the house, being open to adjacent functions on all four sides. it’s connected to the living room, the hall and winter garden as well as to the home theater area. If needed, it can be closed in which case it becomes a separate room. The ground floor holds all the social areas, the leisure spaces and the service areas. As mentioned before, these can be interconnected or treated as separate rooms. The winter garden is one of the elements on the ground floor. Next to it there’s a studio with a stylish office decor.

The entertainment volume is welcoming and cozy thanks to various design elements such as the wall on the ceilings, the brick walls, the fireplace and the elegant furnishings. The living room is connected to an outdoor gourmet kitchen as well as to a game room, poolside deck, spa and sauna. The winter garden is visible from here as well. A set os stairs were built over it, offering access to the second floor where the private areas are situated. The master bedroom has a stunning panorama and a bathroom with its own garden. A wall-mounted TV sits in a corner, allowing the focus to be on the views that frame it.
