Neil Dusheiko Architects have completed, in 2016, a beautiful and very personal renovation of a 174 square meter Victorian town house which is located in Stoke Newington, London, England, United Kingdom.

The house was designed for the architect’s father-in-law, just around the corner from the architect’s house where he lives with his wife and family, since his wife wanted to have her father nearby and in a place where he could live comfortably in a beautiful and welcoming space.

One of the priorities they had was to make sure there was enough room to store his art and pottery collection, which is why the kitchen wall is lined with oak shelves showing ceramics and glassware.

In the kitchen, the materials have been carefully chosen, giving special attention of their texture and warmth, complementing the numerous works of art. The floor is paved with brick and the countertops are made of wood, as are the floors in the adjoining living room.

The design of the kitchen was one of the most important points, as the customer enjoys the art of cooking, and so a space full of light was created. A skylight sits over the dining table, and there is a large glass door leading to the garden, as well as a comfortable seat at the window. A perfect spot for visitors to sit and chat with the chef.

All goals sought were achieved with a modern house, which is comfortable to live in, and is full of warmth.
