This 102 square meter indoor project, located in Shanghai, China, was designed in 2017 by Yoshimasa Tsutsumi and Shi Weiwei, both partners of the architectural firm Tsutsumi & Associates. The Japanese restaurant’s cuisine is mainly based on rice. Using the sufficient height of the space, the entrance was established as a high point, and the rest of the space as a low point. This perspective makes the centripetal space attract people.
Secondly, the beam often used in traditional Zen temples was extended, and by the superposition of several layers of beams, a dynamic roof was built.
Third, following the path of the traditional Zen temple, the edge of the beam is covered by a white plate so that we can see a large number of scattered white points.
It is located inside a commercial center and its facade is open to the outside so it is easy for people passing by to see it and, naturally, be attracted to it.
Undoubtedly, its striking interior will be enough to attract many customers and invite them to enjoy their cuisine.
