Grupo MM, a Mexican architectural firm that designed the Casa Concreto – or Concrete House – in 2015. The home is located in Ciudad López Mateos, Mexico, and covers a total ground area of 400 square meters. The structure’s light concrete walls create a stark contrast with its surroundings in terms of color, though its rough texture makes it feel right at home.

The architectural firm’s intention when designing this private residence, located as it is in the middle of the woods, was to create a sort of refuge sheltered by the surrounding vegetation. The home’s interior décor is characterized by minimalistic lines, with barely any decorative accessories, making this home a serene and tranquil space.

The first level, with a semi-open floor plan, holds the public areas, and the three bedrooms are located on the second level. One of these bedrooms boasts the additional advantage of having an independent access with a separate staircase.

The outdoor vegetation that surrounds the home is also given an opportunity to enter the interior through the use of patios, light wells, and floor to ceiling glass windows. This gives the home added flexibility, as residents and guests alike are able to enjoy the gorgeous surroundings even from the comfort of their own home.
