EQUILIBRIUM is a project by Maria Dal Canto and Lena Holzer that involves three objects typically spotted outdoors in gardens and parks – benches, loungers, and picnic tables. This collection is created to connect people and start a conversation, and soon you’ll see why.

The collection includes a chaise lounge, a bench, and a table that all feature simple iron frames that tend to retreat to the background with the red rope taking the spotlight. When not in use, the rope remains slack with gentle curves waiting to embrace the sitter.

If a person sits by himself or herself, he or she will either fall through or be too uncomfortable to sit as there’s too much rope. If two people sit, the rope is shared and both parties balance it out for comfort. If someone does prefer sitting alone, they can always untie the knots at one end to tighten the rope up.
