This fabulous beach hotel is located in Tulum, a city surrounded by Mayan culture located in southeast Mexico, on the coast of the Caribbean. It was designed in 2016 by the architectural firm Latinta, by the hand of Alejandro Bahamón, Fernando Clamont, and collaborators Daniela Lozano and Alejandra Ariaza. It covers a surface area of 1500 square meters.

Casa Malca is a project that sought to remodel an old beach house located in a hotel area within Mexico. The project consisted of the aforementioned remodeling of the original home to better adapt it to its new use as a hotel. In order to accomplish this, the social areas were seceded from the bedrooms, the conditions in the 9 bedrooms were equalized, new common areas were created (among them a restaurant), and finally, a nightclub and bar were established on the roof.

The concept has been molded around the original structure: a beach mansion with great walls, cement flooring, wooden windows, and furniture. From here, the goal was to optimize each and every inch of space to reach the sort of transcendence a house of this caliber requires. Casa Malca stands out from other hotel options in the area not only because of its size, but also due to the mixture of components found within its walls. Contemporary meets antique, recycled, industrial, and an admirable collection of art. The client, a collector from New York, granted his own personal seal to the project, resulting in a house whose every corner is an exhibition of international works and artists.
