In order to have a complete dining room, you need a few things, the most important of which are the table and the chairs. Upholstered dining chairs are often preferred because of the added comfort they offer. They’re of lots of different types and they fit into various different styles. Contemporary chairs tend to be minimalist and wood dining chairs have a certain warmth and elegance that can’t be achieved through other materials. Each of the following designs is unique is its own way.

The Tronco chairs (MC12) designed by Sam Hecht and Kim Colin are simple and linear, featuring comfortable seats and backrests covered with three-piece upholstery. The geometry of the design is in sync with the style.

Still popular even today, the Tulip chair was designed by Eero Saarinen back in 1957. Its design is simple and timeless. It looks modern despite its age and that makes this chair a wonderful classic. Pair it with the Tulip table for a matching set or mix it with other upholstered dining chairs for an eclectic and cool design.

The distinctive feature of the Gentian dining chair is the curved backrest which in combination with the upholstered design and the simplicity of the wooden frame establishes a dramatic and imposing look.

The design of the Lab chair is a simple but doesn’t lack sophistication. We love the lack of details and the overall form and structure of the chair. The plain quilted seat gives it a plus of comfort while also making the chair look casual without minimizing its elegance.

This is the Cyborg Lord. Although its name might suggest something else, this is actually a dining chair, one with a simple, chic and appealing design. It features a frame made of air-loulded polycarbonate and a polyurethane foam seat and backrest covered wither in fabric or in leather.

The Mademoiselle chair is very graceful and chic, just like its name suggests. These stylish dining chairs are available in a wide variety of fabrics which can be paired with a frame that’s either black or transparent. In total, 22 combinations are available.

 

Another beautiful example of a stylish dining chair is the Embrace which is shown here (bottom row) with brown and dusty rose fabric upholstery. This is a chair that looks so beautiful thanks to it graceful tapered legs and the sinuous and at the same time very comfortable seat.

The classic dining chair is quite robust, with a solid and durable frame, armrests and a wide seat as well as a padded backrest. It’s based on some really good elements but the configuration as described just now no longer suits the contemporary dining room setting so designers found ways to adapt and reinterpret it. One example is the upholstered dining chair designed by EOOS and Carl Hansen & Søn.

Dining chairs like Chloe manage to be both robust and slender. This one is created by Opera Design and has a solid wooden frame and a dense seat and backrest which are seamlessly connected through upholstery to create a continuous and comfortable shell that wraps around the user’s body.

Connie is another beautiful and elegant dining chair. It’s designed by C. Ballabio and it has a solid and sturdy frame made of ash wood and a seat framed by a shell that curves around it, incorporating the back and armrests. The chair is available in a variety of eye-catching colors.

One of the things we love about the Celine dining chairs is the fact that they have these low backrests which nevertheless are very comfortable. Together with the armrests they form a cozy shell that embraces the seat and creates a very cozy feel. The frame of the chair is made of solid canaletta walnut.

The New York dining chair is easily recognizable by its geometry and the smooth dialogue between the thin metal frame and the upholstered seat and backrest. The chair is designed by Sergio Bicego and it comes in a variety of different fabrics and leathers as well as lots of different colors. There’s also the possibility to have the chair custom designed by supplying the material to be used for the upholstery.

 

These elegant dining chairs were designed by Pinucio Borgonovo in 2015. The open pore wooden legs have an interesting texture which links them visually to the velvet upholstery. The Thea chair is also available with leather upholstery.

The 0414 armchair designed nu Studio G&R also has a frame with a lacquered open pore finish. The structure is made of ash wood and three different finishes are available for it. The seat and backrest are upholstered either in fabric or leather.

 

 

The Path is a contemporary dining chair with a sculptural and elegant design. It’s shown here on the left side. It has four tapered legs and a wooden frame which can either be stained or lacquered. The opening in the backrest is a defining characteristic of the chair. This form is meant to be ergonomic and to maximize the comfort of the user.

Inspired by the classical dining chairs popular in the ’50s, the Gisa chair is also defined by a beautiful simplicity usually characteristic of the Nordic style. The design of this modern chair is simple and refined but also familiar and very versatile.

The design of the Jazz armchair is based on contrasting features. The thin metal frame contrasts with the upholstered seat and backrest. At the same time, the way in which the backrest curves and wraps around the seat contrasts with the straight lines of the legs. There’s a gap between the seat and the backrest which emphasizes the stylish figure of the chair.

The designer of the Osaka chair wanted this to be a solid and sturdy piece of furniture that looks lightweight and delicate and in order to achieve that the right materials had to be selected. The chair has an ash plywood shell supported by steel tube legs. Both fabric and leather upholstery is available.

It was launched in 1992 and it continues to be popular and appreciated for its beauty and style. The Campus chair was meant to be functional and affordable. It was successful from the start thanks to its pleasant appearance and well-balanced design.

 

Some might consider these armchairs to be too robust to be used around the dining table but we believe that they could work given the right setting. The design makes the Royale Back Capitoné chair a good fit for elegant and refined dining rooms where they’re surrounded by other equally imposing elements.

The graceful silhouette of the Tekton armchair is simply irresistible. The design has an organic allure what’s very interesting and remarkable is the fact that the connector that joins the backrest, the legs and the armrests is made from a single piece of wood.

This is Annie, a slender-looking and very comfortable chair available in several attractive colors. It features a solid wood frame with tapered legs and an elegant shell that links the seat and backrest, featuring a sinuous and ergonomic form.

The Igloo chair is very simple from a structural point of view although this doesn’t mean it lacks character or oomph. The fact that it features a single-piece shell that embraces the user makes it very interesting and at the same time perfect for a lot different environments and decors.
