This small apartment in Lithuania shows us how a small dwelling can be stylish and functional, yet laconic. The designers tried to retain the harmony relationship with Vilnius old town while decorating the flat.

The monochrome background enhances muted colors and allows the artworks to stand out. Cold grey tones are balanced by velvet fabrics which also make a contrast to the textured ceiling. The living room is united with the kitchen, which features sleek green cabinets and a grey kitchen backsplash. The dining zone is limited to the kitchen island that fulfills a double function. Choosing muted shades was a nice compromise: small spaces require lighter shades but if you aren’t about them you can go for muted shades of bolder colors.

The living space shows off grey walls, a chevron clad wooden floor and a matching TV unit, a large window is covered with dusty pink curtains, which create a relaxing ambience with other muted tones in the space. There’s a large blue velvet sofa (velvet is the trend of the year!), a built-in shelving unit behind it and a TV. A gorgeous sculptural armchair in maroon color looks contrasting with the sofa and adds color to the space.

The master bedroom features mint-colored walls, a large wardrobe with sliding doors, a couple of wall sconces and small black nightstands – who needs more for comfortable sleep? The bathroom is pretty small, it features a long vanity, a mirror and a textural wall made of different types of tiles. This is a nice idea to spruce up a neutral space – rock some textures.
