This townhouse home, built in the beginning of the 20th Century, was completely transformed into two different apartments, where the old merges with the new, the modern with the retro, and the completed pieces with those yet to be finished.

It’s a mix of styles and details that live together in perfect harmony. Located in Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, its renovation was recently undertaken by Shift Architecture Urbanism.

The concrete stairs and walls made of worn brick lead to the different apartments, which have been separated, giving each its own space and intimacy. In its living rooms, walls of glass allow the natural light to flow in and give it a lively sensation. The combination of modern furniture contrasts perfectly with the walls of worn brick and gives it a vintage feel.

In the beautiful high ceilings, from which modern hanging lamps hang, we can see wooden beams that form an important part of the structure and, at the same time, decorate the space. There is also a skylight through which light feeds into the kitchen.

Located in the center, between the living room and the dining room, is the kitchen, with a large countertop covered in white tile. At its back, the storage area is hidden behind doors. There, stairs lead into the private area of the home, where the bedrooms can be found.
