It was the year 2016 and the architects of the firm Vão received, with great enthusiasm, an invitation to decorate the new store Acolá, located in Rua Padre Carvalho, in Pinheiros, São Paulo, Brazil. This invitation came due to the years of friendship between the creators from the moment of its inception in 2012. Which is why, with the help of the architects Anna Juni, Enk te Winkel, and Gustavo Delonero, the firm set out and put all their efforts into making something wonderful out of the space of 120 square meters intended for this purpose.
The space was an old, triangular-floor loft located a few meters from the old shop – a conical, damp, and dark space, since there were only four small openings to illuminate and ventilate the whole place.
The desire to fill the place with natural light guided the first steps and actions the architectural firm took. To do this, part of the roof was removed and replaced by glass which, in addition to providing natural light to the entire store, also serves as a gateway for natural ventilation and grants great thermal comfort to the space.
Among the chosen materials, wood and metal dominate. The decision to use them in their natural state is related to the clothes produced by Acolá, which are mostly made out of natural fabrics with handmade techniques of staining and printing.
