This unique property is located in the beautiful city of Cordoba, in a depression on the banks of the River Guadalquivir and at the feet of Sierra Morena, in Spain. It was completed in the year 2012 on a plot of 104 square meters by the architects Andrés Moreno and Manuel Murillo from the architectural firm UMMO Estudio.

It sits on the slopes of the Sierra, on a stone terrain arranged in slopes that give rise to various geological formations typical of the area, among which stand out caves that have traditionally been used for agricultural work and livestock.

In a bygone era, it was a shelter for the local livestock watchman; today, it has been rehabilitated and turned into rural accommodation, in line with the new activity developed on the farm.

Both the preexisting walls and the rock itself defined a space of great material wealth, so the architects decided to carry out the renovation work from a respectful position towards the environment and looking for proximity instead of direct contact.

The result was clean and silent volumes, large and open spaces, glass openings to the south to search for natural light, and furniture made of wood, handcrafted to give warmth to the cave house.
