The Kawartha Trades and Technology Center is located on the campus of Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. It offers training in fields such as carpentry, welding, plumbing, and machining. It was designed by Perkins + Will, a world-renowned firm.
The new center was conceived as a gateway structure that aligns with other buildings on campus.
In its spectacular exterior, the most striking feature is the modern wooden design of the immense roof, the center of which is pierced by a giant oculus, which adds a dynamic quality to it. Even from the outside we can already feel and appreciate the majestic spaciousness through the building’s glass walls.
The structure also has recreational and rest areas that serve as a way of escape for those who will attend daily to partake in the activities that will take place in the center.
MORE INSPIRATION
Upon entering its immense and illuminated spaces, it is difficult to not be impressed. The building is crowned by high ceilings that allow the interior to maintain a fluidity in the air.
Large stairs, designed for a space in which many people will pass through, cross the building and allow us to go from one point to another comfortably.
In the interior, through its open spaces and its numerous glass walls, we can see the different activities that take place there.
